Senior Manager, Transportation Engineer/Planner
(Permanent, Full-Time)
Asurza Engineers Ltd. is a consulting
engineering firm highly focused in the transportation and traffic discipline.
We are offering a great and unique opportunity for a well experienced
Transportation Engineer/Planner to take the lead in the management of private
and public projects.
As an expert in the transportation
discipline, you will be responsible for management of the transportation
section and business development providing technical advice and support to
deliver transportation projects. You will be involved in a variety of
transportation projects including but not limited to environmental assessments,
regional and local transportation/traffic studies, site developments, road need
studies, corridor analysis, transit assessments, parking studies, travel demand
management, transportation master plans, transit master plans, cycling master
plans.
Your primary focus will be the
management of transportation/traffic projects for local, regional and
provincial municipalities. Responsible for the overall planning and technical
details as well as the preparation of reports, project budgets, proposals and
other administrative duties.
Key Qualifications:
- 7+ years
of progressive experience in Transportation Planning/Engineering with at
least 2 years in managing projects within Ontario.
- Licensed
as a Professional Engineer in Ontario (P.Eng), or Registered Professional
Planner (RPP) from OPPI.
- Strong
Project Management skills with experience participating as a key person
within the transportation discipline.
- Competent
decision-maker and skilled in dealing with the public, agencies and
consultants.
- Highly
organized, team player possessing excellent judgment, communication and
interpersonal skills.
- Good
technical skills to provide reports, letters and specifications.
- Extensive
experience in the application of Municipal Class Environmental Assessment
(MCEA) process is a must.
- General knowledge
of transportation/traffic related software (i.e. Synchro, VISSIM, EMME,
TransCAD).
- Familiar with
technical specifications, manuals and standards for transportation and
traffic studies.
- Proficiency
in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, MS Project)
- Excellent
work ethic and desire for professional growth.
- Be a
member of the Institute of Transportation Engineers.
- Project
Management Professional (PMP) certification or transportation/traffic
certification as PTOE or PTP will be considered an asset.
- Eligibility
for RAQS registration with the Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO)
will be an advantage.
- The
successful candidate must have access to a vehicle and possess a valid
Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License.
Main Responsibilities:
- Develop
and manage the transportation planning section.
- Participate
in business development.
- Participate
in client meetings and presentations to agencies and the public.
- Coordinate
with clients, regulatory/resource agencies, and local governments.
- Manage
transportation projects from conception through completion and ensure
project success.
- Be responsible
for project budgets, project schedules, and client communications.
- Prepare
proposals, feasibility studies, and specifications.
- Actively
participate in the project process and provide technical directions.
- Liaise
with the various municipal approval agencies.
- Lead a
multi-disciplinary project team to undertake major transportation/traffic
projects.
- Coordinate
and manage work of various sub-consultants as needed on project specific
requirements.
- Apply
proven design experience including conceptual, preliminary and detailed
designs.
- Mentor and
coach a team of engineers, planners and technologists.
This permanent position is for a typical
office environment. Occasional travel may be required to attend meetings,
provide presentations and to visit study areas.
